🐕 Gone Dog: General FAQ
We're not your average boarding setup—and that's on purpose. Gone Dog was created to give pups a more personal, loving, and low-stress alternative to traditional kennels or chaotic dog parks. We offer small-scale, customized care with a deep understanding of dog behavior, enrichment, and emotional needs. Here's what you should know before booking with us:
💡 What makes Gone Dog different?
Gone Dog is a home-based boarding and daycare experience focused on enrichment, structure, and individual attention. We're not a loud warehouse with 50 barking dogs—we're a cozy, calm, and dog-centered space with safety, routines, and relationships at the core.
We specialize in:
Small group dynamics
Personalized care plans
Enrichment-based activities
Supporting sensitive or special-needs dogs
We believe every dog deserves to feel safe, understood, and happy while you're away.
🧠 Do you work with reactive, anxious, or neurodivergent dogs?
Yes—and we love them. While we aren’t a behavior rehab facility, we’re experienced with reactivity, fearfulness, OCD behaviors, noise sensitivity, and trauma responses. We carefully manage our space to avoid overstimulation and use positive reinforcement, predictable routines, and dog-first strategies.
Some dogs may need a trial stay before committing to an extended boarding, and we always reserve the right to determine fit based on safety and comfort for everyone involved.
With
🧺 What’s included in a typical daycare or boarding stay?
Every pup gets:
Safe, structured yard time
Indoor lounge & nap breaks
Enrichment like puzzles, sniffy walks, or supervised group play
Individualized attention (not all dogs like the same stuff!)
Photo or video updates
We keep the pack small so we can give every dog the attention and downtime they deserve.
🍽 What about food, treats, and feeding?
You’ll bring your dog’s usual food and any supplements or medications they need. We follow your feeding schedule as closely as possible.
We do offer limited treats—either low-ingredient snacks like dried fish skins, or pig ears, or fresh fruit/veggies like blueberries or carrots—but we’ll follow your preferences or restrictions. You can also pack your own treats. No pressure, no food shaming—just healthy pups, happy guts.
❤️ Do you offer extra care or special accommodations?
Yes! We know not every dog fits into the “easy” category. If your dog needs additional support, let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly. Examples include:
Medication administration (oral, topical, eye/ear drops, etc.)
Special feeding needs (hand feeding, slow feeders, limited ingredient diets)
Senior dog support
Comfort care for grieving, injured, or disabled pups
Anxiety accommodations (melatonin calming treats, music therapy, etc.)
Some extras may come with a small fee based on time or labor involved—we’ll be transparent about that upfront.
🧩 My dog doesn’t do well with other dogs—can we still book?
We take dog temperament seriously. If your pup isn’t comfortable around others, we may still be able to offer solo or modified care, depending on our schedule. Let’s talk—some dogs just need quiet, decompressed space with someone who “gets it.” We may recommend a trial visit before any extended stay.
🎒 Do you offer enrichment or other add-ons?
Yes! We’re building out a full menu of add-ons including:
Enrichment boxes (toys, puzzles, snuffle mats during stay)
Taxi service (pick-up and/or drop-off for local bookings)
Bark Ranger Adventure package (walk, pics, and souvenir)
Dog birthday parties (small group, 2-hour celebration with pics)
Friends & Family Playdates (private playgroup for dogs who already know and like each other)
Add-ons can be booked in advance and are based on availability.
👩⚕️ What happens if there’s an emergency?
We take your pet’s safety seriously. In the unlikely event of an emergency:
We will contact you immediately
We’ll follow any care instructions and reach out to your vet (or the closest emergency vet if needed)
If we can’t reach you, we’ll use our best judgment to ensure your pet gets the care they need
We require emergency contact info on file before your stay begins.
📸 Will I get updates during my dog’s stay?
Absolutely. We send updates (usually with pics or videos) so you can see how your dog is doing, feel reassured, and share in their fun. We know it’s hard being away from your pet—and we want you to feel good about the care they’re receiving.
🐾 How do I know if Gone Dog is a good fit for my dog?
If your dog thrives with small groups, enrichment, structure, and a calm home-based environment—they’ll love it here. If they need extra patience, emotional support, or just a break from the chaos of commercial dog care—we’ve got you.
Let’s start with a conversation. We’ll always be honest about what we can offer and whether we’re a good match.
📢 Barking Disclaimer
As the weather warms up, many neighborhood dogs are spending more time outside—which means the natural sounds of barking are on the rise. We expect dogs to bark now and then—it's how they communicate! That said, we do maintain a low-stimulation environment to help keep everyone calm and comfortable.
If your dog tends to bark excessively, especially in response to outside noises or during downtime, they may not be the best fit for this setting. While we work with a variety of behavior needs, chronic or disruptive barking can create stress for the group and the surrounding neighborhood.
We're happy to talk through strategies and see if we’re still a good match!
